birth, supportive care for those women that may present with
certain risks, postpartum care and support, normal neonatal care,
breastfeeding support, and normal gynecological care.
At Childbirth Options,LLC. we believe that pregnancy, labor and
birth are normal events in a woman’s life, as well as a normal
function of their bodies, not an illness. We believe that pregnancy
and childbirth should be experienced in a safe and pleasant
environment. We believe women have the right to choose the care
that fits their lifestyle and respects the individual, social, spiritual
and economic needs. We believe that women have the right to
choose the care provider, the place of birth and who will be present
at the birth. We believe that women have the right to know the
pros and cons of all procedures and interventions that are available,
suggested or needed during the pregnancy, labor and birth, which
helps them, make informed decisions.
We believe that babies should receive the best start in life. This
includes: having his or her mother obtain excellent prenatal care,
having no drugs introduced into their bodies during labor, being
born in a supportive environment, sparing them from the harmful
separation from the mother and family after birth, and having the
opportunity of being breastfed within the first hour of birth.
As midwives, we practice under the Laws and Rules of the Florida
Statute 467. We are fully trained in a three-year program, licensed
by the state, and carry malpractice insurance as required by the law.
The midwife’s assistants are usually one or two midwifery students
or graduate midwife that hasn't taken there NARM to be licensed
with the state; whom you will meet through out your care, or/plus
another licensed midwife, at the time of the birth.
Midwife means “with woman”
It’s your body, your baby, and your birth. A midwife will take the time to get to know you and care for you as a person.
Midwives provide personalized care that respects individual and cultural differences. With a midwife, you become an active
partner in your care…working with your midwife to decide the course of your pregnancy and birth.
Birth is safe
Numerous studies have shown that for healthy, low-risk women, midwife-attended births—whether at home, in a birth center,
or at a hospital —are just as safe, if not safer, than physician-attended hospital births. Complications do sometimes occur;
however, midwives are trained to recognize and treat them. Because midwives offer one-on-one, individualized care, they are
more likely than other practitioners to address any problems or concerns quickly, and with respect for your needs.
All medical interventions have risks and benefits
Midwives are trained to minimize interventions and respect the natural birth process, which yields better outcomes for mothers
and babies. If interventions become necessary, the midwife will work with you to help you weigh the risks and benefits of each
decision.
Midwives are affordable
Florida law requires all insurance companies doing business in the state to pay for midwifery services.* Whatever type of birth
you desire, you should be able to find a midwife who is covered by your insurance…even if you have Medicaid.
Birth is more than a medical event
Whether you are a first-time mom or a fifth-time mom, a new baby will change your life in wonderful and unpredictable ways.
The outcome of a birth is more than a healthy mom and baby—it’s a family. A midwife can help your new family get off to a great
start, whether it’s by helping with breastfeeding, or just listening when you’ve had a rough day. Midwives treat you as a whole
person, and address your physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs throughout pregnancy, birth and the
postpartum period.
* the law does not apply to self-insured companies.
